Shearman & Sterling Continues to Expand Project Development & Finance Offering in Asia

Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of Neil Kingsbury as specialist counsel in its Project Development & Finance practice in Singapore.

Neil brings significant experience in the financing, development, joint venture and marketing arrangements for energy & resources projects in the Asia-Pacific region, advising clients on the most complex, high profile and innovative energy and infrastructure transactions.  In recent years Neil has been INPEX’s lead in-house lawyer negotiating the key project and finance documents on the Ichthys LNG Project in Western Australia. With this experience he brings deep knowledge of the LNG sector and expertise in the development and financing of complex energy projects.

“Neil's extensive expertise strengthens our robust energy and infrastructure offering," said Ben Shorten, Asia Project Development & Finance Team Leader. “Neil's arrival is indicative of our commitment to the region and growing our energy and infrastructure capabilities across key geographies."

Neil Kingsbury commented: "I am thrilled to be joining an exciting practice with a renowned offering. I am looking forward to working with the team in Asia and beyond as we help clients navigate the ever-changing energy and infrastructure landscape.”

Neil's appointment follows the recent addition of partner David Clinch in Project Development & Finance in Singapore. It is in addition to the promotion of Asia-based Jean-Louis Neves Mandelli to the partnership in October 2020, the promotion of Joe Freeman to counsel in the region and the relocation of international energy counsel Angela Heywood Bible from Houston to Singapore. Other lateral partner hires for Shearman & Sterling in recent months include: Christopher Zochowski and Bradley Noojin (Washington, D.C.-Private Equity), Sanjeev Dhuna (London-Leveraged Finance), Daniel Tristan (Houston-Finance) and Emily Leitch (Houston-Capital Markets).
