Global law firm Shearman & Sterling announces 12 new partners, effective July 1, 2022.

The new partners represent nine of the firm's practices and span across seven of its offices including Abu Dhabi, Austin, Dallas, London, Menlo Park, New York and Washington, D.C. The breadth of their expertise includes Antitrust, Capital Markets, Compensation, Governance & ERISA, Emerging Growth, International Arbitration, Litigation, Project Development & Finance, Real Estate and Tax.

Americas

• Cassandra Cuellar is a member of the Emerging Growth practice in Austin, where she represents emerging companies, entrepreneurs and venture capital investors in a broad range of corporate transactions, primarily in the context of venture capital financings, public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Texas Law School.
• Lorenz Haselberger is a member of the Tax practice in New York, where he focuses primarily on the taxation of financial instruments and the tax aspects of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, capital markets offerings and debt restructurings. He regularly advises major financial institutions, funds, investors and domestic, foreign and multinational companies. He obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
• Yian Huang is a member of the Capital Markets practice in Menlo Park, where he represents public and private companies, investment banks and sponsors in a broad range of corporate transactions, including securities offerings, public company reporting and compliance, venture capital, debt financing, mergers and acquisitions, and other general corporate and commercial matters. Yian obtained his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
• Erika Kent is a member of the Capital Markets practice in New York, where she represents companies and financial institutions in a wide variety of debt and equity capital markets transactions, including high yield and investment grade debt offerings, initial public offerings and follow-on offerings, SPAC and de-SPAC transactions, acquisition financings and liability management transactions. She also advises companies across a range of matters, including public disclosures, corporate governance matters and SEC and NYSE/Nasdaq compliance matters. She obtained her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
• Rachel Mossman is an antitrust and commercial litigator based in Dallas and will be partner in the Antitrust practice. She represents clients in antitrust and other disputes nationwide, including class actions, government investigations, and other complex disputes matters. Rachel obtained her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
• Jonathan Newman is a member of the Real Estate practice in New York. Jonathan's practice focuses on real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture formations, commercial leasing, ground leasing and financing transactions, including mortgage, mezzanine, construction and Shari’ah compliant financings. He represents sponsors, developers, lenders and borrowers in the investment, ownership and development of real estate. Jonathan obtained his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
• Sara Raisner is a member of the Litigation practice in New York. A former director of FINRA’s Department of Enforcement in New York, Sara focuses on regulatory examination and enforcement matters, investigations, and other complex disputes for financial institutions and corporate clients. She obtained her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
• Augusto Ruiloba is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in New York, where he regularly advises on developments and financings, as well as acquisition financings, of energy, renewables, mining and infrastructure projects in Chile, Peru, Mexico and other countries in Latin America. He obtained his LL.M. from Columbia Law School and his law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
• Jesse Sherrett is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Washington, D.C. He represents public and private sector clients in complex multinational disputes across a range of sectors, including the engineering and construction, government, energy, mining, private equity, maritime, sports and IT industries. Jesse received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, his M.A. from Kings College London and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.

EMEA

• David Hume is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Abu Dhabi, where he acts for multinational and State-owned companies across the Middle East and Africa in commercial arbitrations and related litigation under the ICC and LCIA Rules, as well as large-scale construction and engineering disputes, in industries including energy, renewables, oil & gas, infrastructure, aviation, and healthcare. He obtained his LL.B from Victoria University of Wellington.
• Sam Whitaker is a member of the Compensation, Governance & ERISA practice in London, where he provides the full range of employment and benefits advice on transactions and stand-alone employment matters. He obtained his LL.B from King's College London, University of London.
