Shearman & Sterling has won an award for ‘Deal of the Year – Loan’ for its work on the Blackstone-Atlantia deal at the recent IFLR Europe Awards in London.

Now in its 24th year, the IFLR Europe Awards celebrate the region’s most innovative cross-border work and those behind it. The awards are judged independently by IFLR’s editorial team and focus exclusively on legal innovation in cross-border transactions that reached financial close during the previous calendar year.

Shearman & Sterling represented certain financing sources in relation to Blackstone’s public offer for Italian infrastructure group Atlantia. The offer involved Italy’s renowned Benetton family and private equity house Blackstone taking Atlantia (now “Mundys”) private and resulted in Europe’s largest ever take-private transaction.
