Shearman & Sterling attorneys participated in the writing and editing of Latin Lawyer’s Guide to Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance. The global law firm’s attorneys wrote two of the chapters in addition to reviewing and editing this landmark handbook.

Capital Markets of counsel Antonia Stolper along with Project Development and Finance counsel Robert O’Leary wrote the guide’s introduction, which explains and analyzes the impact of the increased focus on ESG criteria in a host of investment categories.

Antonia Stolper and Robert O’Leary joined with Capital Markets associates Marina Mendes Correa and Nicolas Usandivaras as well as visiting attorneys Ana Gabriela Martínez and Vicente Fernández to author Chapter 1, entitled “Status and Pitfalls of ESG Standards.” This chapter examines governmental, consumer and investor demands for the standardization of ESG reporting in Latin America.

Private Equity counsel Gabriel Salinas and Private Equity associate Humzah Yazdani authored Chapter 7, “Addressing ESG Issues in Private Equity Investments in Latin America,” which explores how private equity funds are focusing on ESG-based investment criteria when determining opportunities.
