We were pleased to host the webinar Global Financial Markets Update with a diverse group of panelists from Shearman & Sterling offices in Brazil, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and United States. Partner Jennifer D. Morton facilitated a thoughtful discussion on the current regulatory environment, the effect of the pandemic on the global economy and a global perspective on potential impact of local elections, including the U.S. presidential election.

    Jennifer provides advice to market participants on a worldwide basis with respect to regulatory, transactional, trading and markets issues, with particular emphasis on U.S. regulation of securities broker-dealers, alternative trading systems, clearing agencies and exchanges.
  • Lorna Chen, Partner, Investment Funds and Asia Regional Managing Partner (Hong Kong)
    Lorna is Asia Regional Managing Partner, Head of Greater China and a member of the firm’s Executive Group. Lorna founded and leads our asset management and investment funds practice in Asia. She is one of the most senior international lawyers in Asia who serves clients in the fund formation area, focusing on the structuring, restructuring, formation and operation of alternative investment products, including private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate funds, hedge funds and funds 
  • Roberta Cherman, Partner, Capital Markets (São Paulo)
    Roberta is the head of Shearman’s São Paulo office and advises underwriters and issuers on a wide range of transactional and advisory issues, including SEC-registered, 144A/Regulation S and private placements of debt and equity securities. She re-joined the firm in 2017 after almost a decade holding senior positions in Europe and Brazil at Itaú Unibanco, the largest private financial institution in Latin America. Roberta began her career as an associate in Shearman & Sterling’s Capital Markets Group in New York.
