On Thursday, November 12, partner Nicholas Buckworth, and senior associate Samuel Ogunlaja gave a lecture titled “Green hydrogen and power generation – the ultimate destination in the energy transition?” as part of the Visiting Speaker Series at the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy – one of the world’s foremost centers for energy law and policy research.

The lecture focused on topics such as:

  • hydrogen's vital role in the global energy transition and how the hydrogen supply chain works;
  • how blue hydrogen may be a ‘transitional step’ for existing energy players;
  • the emerging hydrogen policy frameworks around the world;
  • future opportunities for potential green hydrogen producers; and
  • key issues to consider in developing hydrogen projects.

Nick and Sam shared their thoughts on the developments of hydrogen as a power source, demonstrating Shearman & Sterling’s industry-leading expertise in this cutting-edge area.
