Shearman & Sterling co-sponsored, with the New York Section of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (NY SME), the Government of Quebec, Hatch and SRK Consulting, an event titled “Strengthening Critical Minerals Supply Chains in North America: The Key Role of Quebec.” The event, took place on December 8, featuring a series of discussions led by industry executives, critical minerals supply chain experts and officials from Canada’s Province of Quebec, including its Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. As part of the event, Cynthia Urda Kassis, Shearman & Sterling partner and Lead Industry Coordinator for Mining & Metals, chaired a session titled “Financing Critical Minerals,” where she led a discussion covering the financing of the critical mineral supply chain, including the role of ESG-linked investment instruments in this sector.
