Firm Strengthens Capital Markets and Latin America Practices With Return of Alejandro A. Gordano

Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has expanded its capital markets and Latin America practices with the return of Alejandro A. Gordano, who has rejoined the firm as counsel from Credit Suisse. Gordano currently practices in the firm’s London office and will be relocating to New York next year.

Gordano advises issuers and underwriters on international capital market transactions. He has extensive experience in international equity and debt offerings, both high-yield and investment-grade, including debt offerings by sovereign and quasi-sovereign issuers, as well as liability management transactions. As Director & Public Disclosure Counsel at Credit Suisse in Zurich and New York, he advised senior management on US securities law matters and filings under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Gordano was an associate in Shearman & Sterling’s capital markets practice in New York from 2005-2013. He began his career as an associate at Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, a law firm based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“We are delighted to welcome Alejandro back to Shearman & Sterling,” said Antonia Stolper, Shearman & Sterling’s Latin America Regional Managing Partner and a member of the firm’s Capital Markets-Americas practice. “Alejandro’s many years at the firm, together with his broad regulatory experience, further deepens our extensive capabilities in Latin America as we continue to expand our coverage in the region.”

“I am excited to return to Shearman & Sterling,” Gordano said. “This position is a great opportunity for me because of the firm’s long-established Latin America practice, and I look forward to helping contribute to the success of the team.”

Shearman & Sterling has been a leading international law firm in Latin America and the Caribbean for more than a century and has played an active role in the economic development of the region. With offices in North America, Europe, Asia and São Paulo, the firm’s global platform provides clients with advice on US, English, German, Italian, French, Hong Kong and international law in connection with Latin American transactions and disputes.
