Firm Earns Perfect Score on Corporate Equality Index for 8th Consecutive Year

For the eighth year running, Shearman & Sterling earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The firm is one of 517 major businesses that earned a top score of 100 percent and the distinction of “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”

“We are delighted to have once again earned this recognition for our commitment to the LGBT community,” said Denise Grant, project development & finance partner and co-chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “We are excited and proud to continue developing an ever more inclusive and open workplace culture within the firm.”

The 2017 CEI officially rated 887 businesses across five broad categories, including non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, demonstration of organizational competency and accountability around LGBT diversity and inclusion, public commitment to LGBT equality, and responsible citizenship. Shearman & Sterling satisfied all of the CEI’s criteria.

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.
