Counsel Donna Bobbish (Washington, DC-Project Development & Finance) was featured as a “Mover and Shaker” on The Glass Hammer, an online community designed for women executives in financial services, law and business.
The profile covers her dynamic career path in government service and private practice – from law clerk in the natural gas certificates department at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, to counsel in the Project Development & Finance Group at Shearman & Sterling. Over the years, Bobbish has proven inspiration can come from various sources. She believes it is vital for women to assist other women. “We know the obstacles in climbing the career ladder,” she says. “I have been helped by many women over the years, and I feel a sense of obligation to return the favor where I can.”
Bobbish says support has played an important role throughout her career – along with sponsorship and mentorship. The support of family has been a key to her career success. “It has allowed me to focus on projects and know the lights are on at home when I’m traveling the world, or it has taken the form of a listening ear when I need advice on issues and problems. You don’t succeed alone,” she says. She also mentions the importance of being prepared, noting, “It not only improves outcomes, but it can reduce stress.”
