Shearman & Sterling Continues Bay Area Expansion With Additional Litigation Partner

Shearman & Sterling is delighted to announce that intellectual property litigator Kieran Kieckhefer will join the firm as a partner in its San Francisco and Menlo Park, California offices.

Kieckhefer is recognized as a leading intellectual property litigator and trial lawyer in the Bay Area with a strong track record handling complex patent cases and – in particular – trials involving antitrust, copyright, trademark and other commercial disputes, for technology-focused clients.

David Beveridge, Shearman & Sterling’s Senior Partner said: “Kieran’s excellent IP litigation experience and deep ties in Silicon Valley strengthens our full service offering to clients on the West Coast and in Asia. In particular, her practice supports our efforts to enhance the IP services we provide to our technology-focused clients in the Bay Area and continues the momentum of our wider growth strategy.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Kieran to the firm,” said Adam Hakki, Global Co-Managing Partner and Global Head of the firm’s Litigation practice. “Her trial experience in high-stakes IP cases is a strong next step in our strategic and thoughtful growth of our West Coast and global IP litigation practice, our Bay Area and Silicon Valley presence, and our trial capability.”

Kieran joins the firm from McDermott Will & Emery, and also practiced previously at Orrick LLP. Shearman & Sterling continues its expansion in the emerging growth and technology sectors, securities litigation partner Lyle Roberts in Washington, D.C.; and with the launch of two newly opened Texas offices, in Austin and Houston.
