Shearman & Sterling Wins Two Deal of the Year Awards and Energy and Infrastructure Lawyer of the Year at The Asia Legal Awards 2019

Shearman & Sterling won two deal awards and one individual award at ALM’s The Asia Legal Awards 2019 held in Hong Kong on March 21.

The firm won “Energy and Infrastructure Project of the Year” for its work in advising Pertamina Power Indonesia, Marubeni Corporation and Sojitz Corporation on the $1.7 billion financing for Jawa 1 LNG-to-power project in Indonesia. The firm also won “Finance Deal of the Year: Project” for advising the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as sole lender on the $215 million Eastern Indonesia Renewable Energy project. The project comprises a portfolio of one 72MW wind (Tolo Wind, phase 1) and four solar power plants aggregating to 42MW (Phase 2) on Sulawesi Island and Lombok Island.

In addition, partner Ben Shorten was named “Energy and Infrastructure Lawyer of the Year” for his outstanding work in advising on financings and project financings, and for his exceptional legal and leadership skill in managing the firm’s deal team on major project finance transactions.
