Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of David Clinch as a Project Development & Finance partner in Singapore.
David brings extensive experience advising clients on a wide range of acquisitions & disposals in the energy and infrastructure sectors as well as project development matters. His expertise spans oil & gas (including LNG), power, infrastructure, chemicals and refining. David has advised clients worldwide for over 25 years from Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, London and Bangkok. His appointment follows the promotion of Asia-based Jean-Louis Neves Mandelli to the partnership in October 2020, the promotion of Joe Freeman to counsel in the region and the relocation of international energy counsel Angela Heywood Bible from Houston to Singapore.
“David brings invaluable experience from a long career advising clients, particularly corporates and funds, on energy and infrastructure acquisitions & disposals and project development matters across Asia, further strengthening our robust energy and infrastructure offering," said David Beveridge, Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling. “David joining the firm is part of the continued execution of our broader long-term growth strategy, which includes aligning with market opportunities in key geographies, strengthening our business mix.”
David Clinch commented, “I am excited to be joining such a distinguished practice with a reputation for advising on high profile, first in kind, first in country projects and transactions. The energy and infrastructure landscape in today's ever-changing environment presents many opportunities for clients. I am looking forward to working alongside my Shearman colleagues in Asia and beyond as we help clients navigate this landscape.”
David is the latest in a succession of lateral partner hires for Shearman & Sterling, which include Sanjeev Dhuna in Leveraged Finance in London, and Daniel Tristan in Finance and Emily Leitch in Capital Markets in Houston.
