On September 24, 2021, Shearman & Sterling hosted the Venezuelan American Association of the U.S., the Colombian American Association and the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts, in connection with the presentation of a humanitarian award honoring the President of the Republic of Colombia, H.E. Iván Duque Márquez.

At the ceremony, President Duque was presented with the Venezuelan-American Freedom & Friendship Award to honor Colombia’s humanitarian work accepting approximately two million Venezuelan refugees.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Colombian Government, members of the three associations and members of the New York business community. Shearman & Sterling representatives in attendance included partners Stuart Fleischmann (New York-Capital Markets) and Manuel A. Orillac (Houston-Capital Markets) and counsels Maria Marulanda Larsen (New York-Capital Markets) and Christian Rudloff (New York-Project Development and Finance).
