Shearman & Sterling has been awarded Project Finance Team of the Year at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2023. The firm’s Asia Project Development & Finance team was recognized for its work on the most legally innovative cross-border projects in the Asia-Pacific region over the past 12 months.
The firm was also awarded Project Finance Deal of the Year for its role as international counsel to the lenders in connection with the financing of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Nepal. IFLR noted that the project is a pioneer project for foreign investor participation in Nepal, setting the template as Nepal’s first IPP structured according to international standards.
The Awards, now in their 24th year, showcase and celebrate legal innovation in cross-border transactions, as well as the teams and individuals behind the deals.
