Shearman & Sterling was ranked highly by Chambers Brazil 2023 as the firm’s São Paulo office retained a Band 3 ranking for Capital Markets: International.
Capital Markets partner Roberta Cherman once again secured a Band 3 individual ranking from Chambers Brazil while Capital Markets counsel Jonathan Lewis entered the rankings as “Up and Coming” attorney. Both Roberta and Jonathan are based in São Paulo.
Chambers Brazil described Shearman & Sterling as operating “a strong office in São Paulo handling capital markets mandates for blue-chip companies. The team handles a wide range of debt and equity mandates, including IPOs and bond and tender offerings. It is particularly noted for its long-standing relationship with key clients in the market.”
Roberta, who leads the firm’s São Paulo office, advises clients on a broad array of high-value transactions and advisory matters. Chambers notes her extensive knowledge of SEC regulations. Jonathan is sought after for a range of corporate and financial transactions including public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, especially high-yield debt and SEC-registered IPOs.
Shearman & Sterling represented BNP Paribas Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, HSBC Securities, Mizuho Securities, Morgan Stanley & Co and Scotia Capital as deal managers of a cash tender offer by Petrobras acting through its Dutch finance subsidiary Petrobras Global Finance B.V.
