Mark Chorazak, partner in Shearman & Sterling’s Financial Institutions Practice, was quoted in an American Banker article on the liquidity crisis in the banking sector.
“We may not be out of the woods yet, if history is to be any guide,” said Mark Chorazak. “There are some historical parallels to the S&L crisis, when high inflation gradually exposed dire mismatches between long-dated fixed-rate assets and deposits that were becoming more costly to pay interest on over time.”
