Shearman & Sterling Receives Four “Deal of the Year” Awards from India Business Law Journal

Shearman & Sterling received “Deal of the Year” awards from India Business Law Journal, a leading India-focused legal publication, for the firm’s work on four high-profile, India-related transactions. The winning deals were chosen based on“novelty, legal and regulatory complexity, and any precedents that may have been established,” according to India Business Law Journal.

For five consecutive years, Shearman & Sterling’s dedication to providing high-quality and innovative legal advice on India-related transactions has earned the firm “Deal of the Year” awards from India Business Law Journal.

  • Jaguar Land Rover’s High-Yield Bond Offering. Represented Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plcin its offering of £400 million fixed rate high-yield bonds. Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc, an indirectly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited (India), bought luxury carmakers Jaguar Land Rover Limited and Land Rover in 2008.
  • Tata Motors’ US$1.2 Billion Global Rights Offering. Represented Citigroup, Credit Suisse, HSBC Securities, J.P. Morgan and other underwriters in a US$1.2 billion global rights offering by Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile company.
  • Reliance Industries’ Formosa Bond OfferingRepresented Deutsche Bank and HSBC as underwriters in the US$200 million senior notes offering in Taiwan, commonly known as Formosa Bonds, by Reliance Industries Limited. This marked the first-ever Formosa Bond issuance out of India and the first-ever Formosa Bond issuance by an energy company globally.
  • Reliance Industries’ US$1 Billion Investment-Grade Bond Offering. Represented Citigroup, HSBC, Merrill Lynch International, Standard Chartered, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole and The Royal Bank of Scotland in the US$1 billion Rule 144A/Reg. S offering of fixed-rate investment-grade senior notes by Reliance Industries Limited.
