Shearman & Sterling Awarded 'Matter of the Year' by Global Competition Review

Shearman & Sterling received the “Matter of the Year Award” from Global Competition Review (GCR), the leading competition law and policy journal, at the 2016 GCR Awards, held in Washington, DC on April 5.

The firm was recognized for representing Cargolux Airlines in the Air Cargo investigation. Our antitrust team secured a rare complete annulment of a European Commission decision in an alleged cartel infringement case, including the cancellation of a €79.9 million fine, on behalf of Cargolux Airlines.

The GCR Awards honor “creative, strategic and innovative (antitrust) work” by teams of in-house and external lawyers, economists and enforcers over the past year.

This success follows GCR’s inclusion of Shearman & Sterling in its list of Global Elite practices, naming the firm as one of the top 25 antitrust practices worldwide.

GCR also shortlisted two other Shearman & Sterling antitrust matters.
