Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has elected the following counsel and associates to the partnership across its worldwide platform. The new partners practice in four offices – Beijing, New York, Milan and Singapore – and in the capital markets, finance, financial restructuring and insolvency, international arbitration and real estate areas.

The following lawyers were elected partner:

Kristopher Ferranti practices in the Real Estate Group in New York. He advises financial institutions, government instrumentalities, investment funds and individual and institutional investors and developers on a wide variety of real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, development projects, financings and ground and space leasing.  Ferranti earned his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was managing editor of the Law Review. 

Valerio Fontanesi practices in the Finance Group in Milan. He represents sponsors, banks and alternative lenders on a wide range of high-profile and complex financing, structured finance and distressed debt transactions. Fontanesi has in-depth experience in a variety of areas, including leveraged finance, real estate finance, structured finance and distressed investments, and has devised several previously untested lending and investment structures. Fontanesi is admitted to practice in Italy and New York. He received his LL.M from the University of Michigan and his Italian law degree (Laurea in Giurisprudenza), magna cum laude, from LUISS - Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli. 

Harald Halbhuber practices in the Capital Markets Group in New York. He specializes in complex corporate finance transactions, representing issuers and investment banks in debt and equity offerings, high yield financings, debt restructurings and equity derivatives. He also advises clients on critical disclosure and financial reporting matters, an area in which he has authored several publications.  Halbhuber received his S.J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Vienna and his LL.M from Harvard Law School.  He holds an undergraduate law degree from the University of Vienna.

Emmanuel Jacomy practices in the International Arbitration Group in Singapore and Beijing. He has advised companies and State-owned entities in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, under most major arbitration rules, focusing on investment, energy and intellectual property disputes, as well as disputes having an Asian or African nexus. He has also represented clients in litigation before French courts and is currently representing victims before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Jacomy received his Master of International Economic Law with Honors from the Panthéon-Sorbonne University and his Master of Science in Management (First Class Honors) from HEC School of Management.
