Shearman & Sterling Elects New Partners

Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has elected the following counsel and associates to the partnership across its worldwide platform.

Our new partners represent seven practices and are based in three of the firm’s offices—London, New York and Washington, D.C.—and in the capital markets, compensation, governance & ERISA, international arbitration, funds, finance, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, project development and finance, and public international law practice areas.

The following lawyers were elected partner:

Tomasz Kulawik is a member of the Finance practice in New York and Washington, D.C. and focuses on leveraged finance, including acquisition financings, asset based lending, refinancings and restructurings. He is also experienced in structured finance and investment grade finance. Tomasz received his M.A. degree from Warsaw University and his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Grace Lee is a member of the Litigation practice in New York and experienced in securities and antitrust cases, shareholder class actions, government, regulatory and internal investigations, arbitrations and other commercial disputes. Grace received her B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois, College of Law.

Anthony Lepere, a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in London, focuses on corporate and project development work in the mining and oil and gas sectors. His recent experience encompasses strategic issues arising in connection with mining projects and new approaches to the development and financing of LNG projects, with a particular emphasis upon sub-Saharan Africa. Anthony received both his B.A. (First Class Honors) and his LL.B. (First Class Honors) from the University of Western Australia.

Derrick Lott is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions practice in New York. Derrick has worked on complex, high-profile public and private transactions, as well as minority investments, joint ventures and corporate governance matters. In addition, he has deep experience in both securities laws and the fiduciary duty and process issues that are unique to complex public company transactions. Derrick earned his B.A. degree from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. degree from American University, Washington College of Law.

Gillian Emmett Moldowan, a member of the Compensation, Governance & ERISA practice in New York, advises companies, boards, executives and investors on compensation and benefits matters, including equity-based incentives, deferred compensation programs and employment and severance arrangements. In particular, her practice focuses on issues that arise in securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Gillian earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Barnard College and her J.D., with Highest Honors, from The George Washington University Law School.

Roger Morscheiser is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions practice in New York. Roger works on many highly complex domestic and cross-border transactions for significant clients in the chemicals, industrials, sports and healthcare sectors. He received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from New York Law School.

Cody Wright is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions practice in New York. Cody has extensive experience in domestic, international and cross-border public and private M&A transactions, as well as joint ventures and corporate governance matters. He has a particular focus on public company acquisitions and transactions in the technology, financial services and mining sectors. Cody earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
