Kelli Sims Joins IEL Leadership Class

Associate Kelli Sims has been accepted into the Leadership Class of the Institute for Energy Law.

This prestigious program is primarily for energy professionals who have been practicing in the energy field between three and 12 years. The IEL, part of longstanding CLE provider The Center for American and International Law, counts many of the leading energy companies and attorneys among its international membership. The program provides an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the energy industry, leadership, communication, diversity and careers in energy.

Kelli is a member of the editorial board for the Energy Law Advisor, IEL’s quarterly energy law publication.

Kelli focuses on private equity, M&A transactions and complex commercial transactions in the upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors. Her experience includes asset and equity acquisitions and divestitures, development and participation transactions, farmins, farmouts, joint operating agreements and joint venture transactions.

She has played an integral role in high-profile energy industry transactions including:

  • Ecopetrol on its joint venture with Occidental Petroleum Corporation to develop 97,000 net acres in the Permian Basin in West Texas, valued at $1.5 billion
  • DTE Pipeline in its $2.25 billion acquisition of a gathering system in Louisiana and its acquisition of an additional stake in a pipeline in West Virginia
  • Oryx Midstream in its joint venture with Rattler Midstream to acquire Reliance Gathering
