Shearman & Sterling Announces Eight Counsel Promotions

Shearman & Sterling has promoted eight lawyers to counsel in seven practice areas and six of its offices across the United States, Europe and Asia. The promotions span the Litigation, International Arbitration, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Tax, Finance and Project Development & Finance practices and are effective as of October 1, 2020.

The following lawyers were promoted:

Ryan Au is a member of the Tax practice in Washington, D.C. He received his B.S. from Vanderbilt University and earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

Maria Cornilsen is a member of the Finance practice in New York, currently sitting in the firm’s London office. She received her LL.B. from Queensland University of Technology.

Elise Edson is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Paris. She received her Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University, South Australia and earned her LL.B. from the University of Adelaide and her LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law.

Aliresa Fatemi is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions and Intellectual Property Transaction practices in Frankfurt. He earned his LL.M. from New York University School of Law and his doctoral degree from the University of Düsseldorf.

Joe Freeman is a member of the Project Development & Finance practice in Singapore. He received his B.A. from the University of Western Australia and earned his LL.B. (Distinction) from the University of Western Australia.

Maria Marulanda Larsen is a member of the Capital Markets practice in New York. She received her B.A. from Columbia University and earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

Randall Martin is a member of the Litigation practice in New York. He received his B.A. from the University of Calgary and earned his J.D. from the University of Toronto Law School.

Thomas Parigot is a member of the International Arbitration practice in Paris. He received his D.E.A. from the University of Paris XI and his Mastère Spécialisé in International Business Law and Management from HEC / ESCP-EAP Schools of Management.
