Partner and head of the firm’s Global Nuclear practice George Borovas (Tokyo-Project Development & Finance) and partner Nils Eliasson (Hong Kong-International Arbitration) spoke at the Asia Nuclear Business Platform in Hong Kong. The conference featured over 50 speakers from the international nuclear community and gathered over 200 nuclear stakeholders who explored new build developments in Asia’s growing nuclear industry.
Borovas and Eliasson spoke on "Risk and Financing of New Nuclear Projects" and "Strategic Management of Risks and Claims in Nuclear Construction Projects" respectively during the conference.
Borovas is a market-leading advisor to the nuclear industry, with significant experience on nuclear power projects all over the world. He has advised governments, sponsors and lenders on the development of civilian nuclear power programs and the financing and construction of new nuclear power plants in the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Europe, the Middle East, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, China, Australia and South Africa.
Eliasson acts as counsel or arbitrator in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, in particular in the energy sector. Widely regarded as a leading practitioner for arbitrations related to China, he has extensive experience of complex construction & engineering disputes, including nuclear power plant construction. Nils has represented clients in arbitrations under all major international arbitration rules, as well as in ad hoc under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules. He also acts as counsel in investment treaty arbitrations under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, including the Energy Charter Treaty.
