Patricia Hammes (New York-Project Development & Finance) joined a panel on “What Are Investment, Commercial and Development Banks Focusing on to Support Mining Companies in Latin America?” at the Mining & Investment Latin America Summit in Lima.  

The panelists discussed the countries that investment and commercial banks are most interested in banking and the reasons why, and the driving forces behind the funding needs of mining companies and the products or financing strategies that fit the different funding needs. They also discussed the main financial strategies and offerings of various international and local banks in terms of debt vs. equity financing, and M&A. The panelists then focused on junior mining companies and how they should prepare for and work towards a senior debt financing and other opportunities for miners to access capital in the local debt and equity markets.
