The Symposium on Building the Financial System of the Twenty-first Century: An Agenda for Latin America and the United States

Partner Stuart Fleischmann (New York-Capital Markets) participated in a conference sponsored by the Harvard Law School Program on International Financial Systems (PIFS) titled “The Symposium on Building the Financial System of the Twenty-first Century: An Agenda for Latin America and the United States”, held at Harvard Law School.

The event promoted the exchange of ideas between global financial counterparts through panel and group discussions. Stuart was a key speaker on the panel titled “Impacts of G-20 Financial Regulation on Latin American Markets,” which addressed pension reforms, financial regulations and related matters. Other panels included:

  • Capital Markets Development: Pension Fund Systems and Opportunities for Investment Funds
  • Impact of US AML and Taxation of Foreign Activities on Latin America
  • State-Owned Entities: Riskiness, Competitiveness, Conflicts of Interest, and Curbing Corruption
The event featured a host of notable speakers including Fernando Hernandez (partner at Marval O´Farrell & Mairal), Gordon Kingsley (Head of Latin America DCM, Credit Agricole), Samuel Libnic (General Counsel for Latin America & Mexico, Citi) and Pablo Perezalonso (partner, Ritch Mueller, Heather y Nicolau).
