30th Annual AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Forum

  • Hong Kong

Lorna Chen, head of Greater China (Hong Kong-Investment Funds), moderated two panel discussions at the 30th AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Forum in Hong Kong: “Mid-Marketing Matters: Fundraising in 2017” at the PE Leaders’ Summit and “Delivering Exits in 2017: What Are the Options?” at the Investment Summit.

In the first panel discussion, Lorna, along with panelists from Newquest Capital Partners, CLSA Capital Partners and Shakwei & Partners, focused on the strategies of mid-market GPs and addressed the following:

  •  In what ways can a mid-market GP differentiate itself?
  •  How is the investor relations function evolving?
  •  What are the prevailing trends on terms, co-investment and reporting?
  •  How are placement agents used most effectively?

Lorna also led the panel that examines how General Partners can best secure attractive exits. Topics discussed include:

  •  Which exit channels have proved most fruitful in 2017?
  •  Are secondary buyouts started to play more of a role in the region?
  •  What challenges do GPs face in creating liquidity events?
  •  How does the evolution of exits in Asia compare to the United States and Europe?

In its 30th year, the three-day forum took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, bringing together more than 1000 General Partners, Limited Partners and other professionals for quality discussions, strategic debates and productive networking.
