Shearman & Sterling’s Paris partners hosted an event to introduce the “Girl Rising” campaign on June 13, 2018 in Paris. The campaign focused on girls’ education and empowerment around the world. Shearman & Sterling has been a partner of Girl Rising for a number of years and has organized previous events in support of the campaign in New York and London.

The attendees and their families were welcomed to the new Jardin d'Acclimatation to attend a screening of the film Girl Rising, directed by Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbins. The film highlights the unforgettable stories of nine little girls living in developing countries and their determined quest to receive an education. Before the film, Chiara Condi shared an overview of her association “Led by Her” which helps women who have suffered abuse to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship.

This initiative is part of Shearman & Sterling's Community and Social Responsibility projects, and was organized by “Shearman#Elles” a forum for women’s initiatives created by the Paris office. The group projects are aimed at women’s empowerment and equal opportunities through education. Shearman#Elles has recently organized a fundraiser for different charities on International Women's Day. The Paris office is currently working on two sponsorship projects with high school students in disadvantaged areas to give them an insight into the legal profession and prepare them for their professional future by helping them develop and improve their written and oral skills.
