GCR Live Singapore 8th Annual Asia–Pacific Law Leaders Forum

  • Singapore

Partners Matthew Readings (London-Antitrust) and Jessica Delbaum (New-York-Antitrust) spoke at the 8th Annual Asia–Pacific Law Leaders Forum organized by Global Competition Review (GCR) in Singapore on March 7 and 8, 2019.

Matthew participated in the “Cartels, Leniency Applications and Cross-Border Enforcement” panel. It discussed considerations in applying for leniency, such as the practical difficulties in handling multi-jurisdiction leniency filings; discovery of leniency documents in follow-on private litigation and whether leniency programs should provide immunity to company employees in countries with criminal penalties for individuals; and analyze cross-border enforcement, tackling practical issues in handling cross-border cartel investigations, differences in recognition of legal privileged documents as well as access to documents and collaboration between competition authorities.

Jessica participated in the panel on “Technology Segment: Policing the Conglomerate,” which discussed the concerns around tying and bundling, leveraging, margin-squeezing and restriction of supply and how these concerns should be dealt with; complex technology mergers; and how the competition authorities have harnessed the use of AI to police the digital economy.
