Abogadas MX Celebrates Five Years of Supporting Women Lawyers in Mexico

  • Mexico

Abogadas MX, a professional association that helps women lawyers flourish in Mexico’s legal industry, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. Shearman & Sterling partner Antonia Stolper, who has been involved with the association since its inception, and alumni Carolina Machado, José Raz Guzmán and Ana Paula Buchanan, joined the celebration.

“I’m very proud to have been involved over many years with the Vance Center’s Women in Profession initiative that has led to the establishment of 19 other similar groups across the region. Abogadas MX has done a spectacular job organizing not only women in the profession, but the profession as a whole and is a model of what can be achieved when the legal profession comes together to advance the status of women in the profession,” Antonia said.

Among the principal activities Abogadas MX has embarked upon are mentorship programs, which in 2019 alone have helped 159 lawyers; leadership workshops; studies on the inclusion of women in leadership positions and a scholarship program.
