Partners Emmanuel Gaillard and Yas Banifatemi (both Paris-International Arbitration) spoke at the 6th GIAC Arbitration Days, the leading arbitration conference in Georgia. The topic of this year’s three-day conference was “The Role of Dispute Resolution in State Economy,” featuring panels composed of leading advocates, counsels, experts and arbitrators who discussed distinct topics of international arbitration followed by Q&A sessions.
On October 9, Prof. Emmanuel Gaillard delivered a presentation on “New Trends and Challenges Under the New York Convention,” and Dr. Yas Banifatemi presented the New York Convention 1958 Guide website. Prof. Gaillard co-authored the UNCITRAL Secretariat Guide on the New York Convention, published in five official languages of the United Nations. Dr. Yas Banifatemi was executive director and coordinator of the newyorkconvention1958.org website. They both practice in the areas of international arbitration and public international law and regularly speak about both these fields.
On October 10, Prof. Gaillard addressed the key note speech “New Insights Into the Sociology of Arbitration” and on October 11, Dr. Banifatemi will moderate the panel “Protect to Attract vs. Protect to Protect.”
