Shearman & Sterling Hosts Annual Tax Conference

  • New York

On December 3rd, 2019, Shearman & Sterling’s Tax team hosted its Eighth Annual Tax Conference in our New York office. This conference continues to be a huge success, with more than 100 clients from financial institutions, corporations and investment firms in attendance.

“With the continued issuance of guidance and regulations implementing the 2017 Tax Reform Act, we were able to share new developments and structuring considerations with the audience”. “Panelists engaged attendees by highlighting new regulations under the GILTI and BEAT provisions, as well as discussing the implication of Tax Reform on mergers and acquisitions and other international planning” added partner Larry Crouch (Menlo Park-Tax).

Speakers from Shearman & Sterling’s New York, Menlo Park, Houston and Washington, D.C. offices, as well as from Aon, Bank of America, Blackrock, Citigroup, Ernst & Young, General Electric, Goldman Sachs, Huntington Bank, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley participated.

The conference featured a total of six panel discussions covering recent developments and other issues of interest in areas of U.S. federal tax and global taxation including ethics, partnerships, international tax, corporate transactions, financial products and tax litigation.
