Firm Honored for Pro Bono Commitment in Washington, DC

Shearman & Sterling was honored for the dedication of its Washington, DC office attorneys to pro bono at the “40 at 50” Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast on April 23. The annual event, hosted by US federal judges in Washington, recognizes firms where at least 40 percent of all lawyers performed at least 50 hours of pro bono service in the past year.

“We’re grateful to be recognized for our pro bono efforts, which reflect our firm’s diversity, global reach, and commitment to our communities,” said one partner, chair of Shearman & Sterling’s Pro Bono Committee. “From representing wrongfully convicted death row inmates, to advising nonprofit organizations on tax matters and newly arrived immigrants on their options for permanent resident status, to our many years advising on the post-genocide tribunals in Rwanda, we are proud to offer exceptional legal services to individuals and organizations in need.”
