Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has bolstered its China and regional/global M&A practice with the addition of Stephanie Tang, who joins the firm as a partner in the firm’s China M&A group.
Ms. Tang comes to Shearman & Sterling from Kirkland & Ellis, where she was a partner and represented Chinese companies on a variety of public and private cross-border M&A transactions, special committee assignments on US take-private transactions and private equity transactions.
“We are delighted that Stephanie is joining our M&A practice and our firm,” said Creighton Condon, the firm’s Senior Partner. “Stephanie has an outstanding reputation in China and a track record of excellence.”
Hong Kong-based partner Paul Strecker, head of the firm’s Asia M&A practice, added, “Stephanie is a perfect fit for our China practice, both in terms of her private equity and corporate M&A experience in China. We are seeing very high client demand on the inbound and outbound side in China, and Stephanie’s skillset is ideal. She will also be very complementary to our capital markets and asset management coverage in China and will be an overall excellent addition to the team.”
A Mandarin speaker and New York-qualified, Ms. Tang has also represented Chinese issuers in venture capital financings and other capital-raising transactions, including IPOs.
“There are so many natural synergies between my traditional client work and Shearman & Sterling’s long-time service to Chinese and multinational clients,” said Ms. Tang. “I look forward to being part of the firm at a time of great growth and opportunity in China.”
