Shearman & Sterling, McCormack Commended in FT Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report 2015

Shearman & Sterling and Singapore managing partner Bill McCormack were recognized by the Financial Times (FT) in the FT Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report 2015.

The firm was “commended” in the Finance Law category for its Asahan IPP project led by McCormack, who also serves as global head of the firm’s Project Development & Finance Group. FT also acknowledged the firm’s work with the International Finance Corporation and PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance as senior lenders in the refinancing of PT Bajradaya Sentranusa’s hydroelectric power plant in Sumatra, Indonesia.

McCormack was selected as one of the “Top Ten Innovative Individuals.” The publication “highly commended” McCormack for his works “on energy projects in a wide variety of markets, many of them challenging, from a gas-fired power project in Myanmar to a windpower facility in Indonesia to a hydro project in Pakistan.”

“This is a great honor for the firm and very well-deserved recognition for Bill,” said Matthew Bersani, Shearman & Sterling’s Asia Managing Partner. “The firm continues to service clients throughout Asia with excellence, providing innovative thinking on some of the most important projects and matters in the region.”

This year’s report and awards drew on 494 submissions from 81 law firms and 33 in-house legal teams in the Asia-Pacific Region.
