Shearman & Sterling Receives Five American Lawyer Global Legal Awards

Shearman & Sterling received five Global Legal Awards from The American Lawyer, placing the firm among a small group of law firms that have garnered multiple honors. The 2015 awards recognize the firm’s client work in international arbitration, investigations, global M&A and social responsibility.

The Global Legal Awards acknowledge the most distinguished international legal work performed between January 1, 2014 and April 15, 2015 across a wide range of disciplines. This year's contest attracted 225 entries from law firms and in-house legal departments in 30 categories.

Shearman & Sterling secured first prize in the following areas:

  • Global Dispute of the Year, Treaty Arbitration: Yukos v. Russia
  • Global Dispute of the Year, Investigations: Swiss Tax Settlements
  • Global M&A Deal of the Year, Africa: Vimpel / Djezzy
  • Global M&A Deal of the Year, Middle East: Canary Wharf
  • Global Citizenship Award (Lifetime Achievement): International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda

The winners and honorees will be recognized at the Global Legal Awards dinner on September 28, 2015, at Gotham Hall in New York City. All of the firm’s awards are under consideration for grand prizes in their respective categories.
