Domenico Fanuele, managing partner of Shearman & Sterling’s Milan and Rome offices and the head of the Italian corporate practice, was named “Real Estate Lawyer of the Year” at the 2015 Legalcommunity Corporate M&A Awards ceremony held in Milan on June 30.

The nomination panel noted that Fanuele is a market leader in Italy for the number and size of real estate deals. The panel also highlighted his work on behalf of Qatar Holding in connection with the acquisition of Porta Nuova, as well as a number of other strategic transactions in the sector.

Legalcommunity is a specialized trade journal, with wide distribution among law firms, corporations, banks and the finance community, covering the Italian legal market. The shortlist and the final award for each category were determined by Legalcommunity, together with a panel composed of general counsels of leading Italian companies, as well as professionals from the world of finance, business and communications, on the basis of deals completed and a survey with operators of the finance segment (including banks and corporate clients).
