Litigation Group and Stephen Fishbein Recognized in The American Lawyer’s Litigation Department of the Year Awards

Shearman & Sterling’s Litigation Group has been recognized in The American Lawyer’s biannual “Litigation Department of the Year” Awards as one of 10 firms selected for Honorable Mention.  In addition, litigation partner Stephen Fishbein was named one of six “Litigators of the Year.”  These awards recognize those law firms and lawyers “whose hard-fought successes stood out over the contest period from August 2013 through July 2015.”  Fishbein was selected based on his success in the Todd Newman insider trading appeal, which ended when the US Supreme Court denied the government’s motion to appeal, effectively ending the government’s quest to reverse the Second Circuit’s landmark decision overturning Mr. Newman’s conviction.  This award from The American Lawyer follows Fishbein’s recent recognition as a Law360 White Collar MVP of the Year and the firm’s selection by Law360 as “White Collar Practice Group of the Year.”

“We are very pleased to have received this recognition, both for the successes of our entire Litigation Group across a wide variety of important cases and investigations, and for the incredible work of Steve Fishbein, John Nathanson and our entire team that represented Todd Newman,” said Adam Hakki, global head of Shearman & Sterling’s Litigation Group.
