Shearman & Sterling Receives Three “Deal of the Year” Awards from China Business Law Journal

Shearman & Sterling was awarded “Deal of the Year” for the firm’s work on three high-profile China-related transactions by China Business Law Journal (CBLJ), a leading China-focused legal publication. The awards honor legal innovation, regulatory complexity and precedents that have been established in China.

The following deals will be featured in the January 2016 issue of China Business Law Journal:

  • CGN Power’s US$3.2 Billion H Share IPO offering. Represented CGN Power Co., Ltd., the largest nuclear power producer in China, in its US$3.2 billion H share IPO offering on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. This marked the largest utility and energy deal on record by Chinese issuers in 2014 (Dealogic).
  • Harmonicare Medical’s Hong Kong IPO offering. Represented Harmonicare Medical Holdings Limited, China's largest private obstetrics and gynecology specialty hospital group, in its Hong Kong IPO on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. This marked the first-ever PRC specialty private hospital to list in Hong Kong.
  • Bank of Communication’s Acquisition of Brazil’s Banco BBM S.A. Represented Bank of Communications (BoCom), one of the five largest banks in China, in its acquisition of the total outstanding shares of Banco BBM S.A., a commercial bank in Brazil. The signing of this headline-grabbing deal and several other key transactions was attended by leaders of both countries (Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff and China’s Premier Li Keqiang).
