Shearman & Sterling advised Equistone Partners Europe (“Equistone”) on the financing of the acquisition of GALA Group, one of Europe’s largest candle manufacturers with its head office in Germany. Funds managed by Equistone Partners Europe have acquired a majority stake in GALA Group. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The company supplies major supermarkets, drugstores and discount chains with scented candles, tea lights, grave lights, pillar and rustic candles and is represented in more than 25 countries through a network of distribution partners.

Equistone is one of the leading European private equity investors and one of the most active in the German mid-cap market. Shearman & Sterling already advised Equistone on the financing of acquisition of SportGroup and TriStyle in 2015.
