Shearman & Sterling's Mergers & Acquisitions Group was named "Corporate Team of the Year" on April 7 at the Legal Business Awards 2016.

The firm received this award for advising Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on the acquisition of Canary Wharf Group. The transaction, recognized as one of the UK’s largest commercial real estate deals in 10 years, involved navigating the complex ownership structures of QIA and its bidding partner Brookfield Property.
