Shearman & Sterling Promotes 11 to Counsel

Shearman & Sterling has promoted 11 lawyers to counsel.  The new counsel represent five offices and cover six practice areas.

The following lawyers were promoted to counsel:

Barbara Le Chapellier practices in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group in Paris.  Barbara received a Magistère de Droit des activités économiques degree and a D.E.A de Droit des Affaires et de l'Economie degree from the University of Paris-I, Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Jonathan Handyside practices in the Capital Markets Group in London.  Jonathan received his Hon. B.A. with High Distinction from the University of Toronto and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Derek Kershaw practices in the Tax Group in New York.  Derek earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from the College of William and Mary, M.P.P from the University of California at Berkeley and J.D. and LL.M. from New York University School of Law.

Anthony Lepere practices in the Project Development & Finance Group in London.  Anthony received his Bachelor of Laws, First Class Honors, and Bachelor of Arts, First Class Honors, from the University of Western Australia.

Alexander Marcopoulos practices in the International Arbitration Group in Paris. Alexander received his B.A. from New York University and J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School.

Leona McManus practices in the Finance Group in London.  Leona received her LL.B. (Law & Accounting) from Queen’s University Belfast and completed the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.

Kana Morimura practices in the Capital Markets Group in Tokyo.  Kana received her LL.B. from Kyoto University and LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law.  

Marie Pouget practices in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group in Paris. Marie received her Master 2 in Tax Law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University, Master 1 in Corporate Business Law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University and Master of Science in Management from ESSEC Business School.

Jeffrey Tate practices in the Tax Group in Washington, D.C. Jeffrey received his B.S., magna cum laude, and M.Acc. (Tax Emphasis) from Brigham Young University and J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.

Jonathan Tompkins practices in the International Arbitration Group in New York. Jonathan received his B.A. with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law.
