Shearman & Sterling recently received three Global Legal Awards from The American Lawyer. The Global Legal Awards honor matters -- performed between January 1, 2016 and April 15, 2017 -- that “demonstrate the industry's ability to navigate complex international legal issues.” This year, the contest attracted more than 200 entries from firms across the globe.

Finalists were honored in four main categories: Citizenship, Disputes, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Finance. Shearman & Sterling was recognized in the following Finance categories:

Global Finance Deal of the Year: Capital Markets (Debt) – Argentina Sovereign Debt Offering
Global Finance Deal of the Year: Insolvency and Restructuring (Africa) – Edcon Restructuring
Global Finance Deal of the Year: Projects (Southeast Asia) – Bhimasena Power Indonesia Project

Award recipients will be honored at the Global Legal Awards dinner on September 25, 2017, at the Edison Ballroom in New York, and grand prize winners will be announced in each of the four main categories.
