Shearman & Sterling Scores 100 Percent in the 2018 Corporate Equality Index

Shearman & Sterling received a score of 100 percent in the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a U.S. national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

“We are proud to receive this perfect score for the ninth year in row,” said Creighton Condon, Senior Partner of Shearman & Sterling. “This recognition by The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is reflective of our overall commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace, which is a high priority for the firm. We remain committed to fostering an open and inclusive work environment and to developing our efforts to address LGBTQ-related issues in the workplace.”

The 2018 CEI rated 947 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Shearman & Sterling satisfied all of the CEI’s criteria to secure the firm’s designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
