Shearman & Sterling Women Present to General Counsel at ‘Perfecting Your Pitch’ Event

Partners Clare O’Brien (New York-Mergers & Acquisitions) and Mallory Brennan (New York-Litigation); counsel Rupa Briggs (New York-Capital Markets) and Gillian Emmett Moldowan (New York-Compensation, Governance & ERISA) presented at a program in New York on October 10 entitled “Perfecting Your Pitch: A Practical Program Expanding Opportunities for Women in the Legal Profession” hosted by ALM/American Lawyer.

“Perfecting Your Pitch” offers senior associates and partner-level women lawyers an opportunity to connect with top in-house lawyers, establish relationships, test delivery and perfect presentation skills.  Teams from law firms pitched to panels of senior in-house counsel in response to a fictional M&A scenario. In-house panelists asked probing questions and provided feedback on the type of presentations and issue spotting they look for in real work scenarios.

The Shearman & Sterling team presented to senior in-house counsel and heads of M&A at various companies, including Panasonic, Marsh & McLennan Companies, Mastercard International, DeLaval, Pernod Ricard, Luxottica Group, SIGA Technologies, Addivant and Browz.

A team will present in the “Perfecting Your Pitch” event in San Francisco on November 14.  The in-house panel for the San Francisco event is expected to include counsel from Adobe, Airbnb, Facebook, GoPro, McKesson, Netflix, Salesforce, Seagate Technologies, Square, Twitter and Zynga.

The teams received input from partners Larry Crouch (Menlo Park-Tax), Jessica Delbaum (New York-Antitrust), Dan Newcomb (New York-Litigation), Thomas Makin (New York-Litigation), Mark Hannemann (New York-Litigation), Brian Burke (New York-Litigation) and Todd Lowther (Houston-Tax) and associate Marc Elzweig (Menlo Park-Intellectual Property), and support from Diversity & Inclusion and Marketing & Business Development.
