Shearman & Sterling Outperforms in M&A Deal Activity

As of the end of the third quarter this year, Shearman & Sterling worked on 279 M&A transactions valued at $540.2 billion. This represents a 20.3 percent increase in terms of deal volume and a 54.8 percent increase in deal value compared to the same period in 2017. These figures include deals that have not yet been completed.

This shows that we are outperforming the overall market. The number of global M&A transactions recorded in the same period declined 9 percent, while deal value is up 37 percent.

  • Ranked 5th in Worldwide Completed Deals (by value) with $261.2 billion and 132 deals with an 11.5 percent market share by Thomson Reuters

  • Ranked 5th in U.S. Target Completed Deals (by value) with $173.6 billion and 60 deals with a 16.6 percent market share by Thomson Reuters
  • Ranked 6th in Any U.S. Involvement Completed (by value) with $193.6 billion and 72 deals with a 15.0 percent market share by Thomson Reuters
