Shearman & Sterling Wins Four Awards at CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year Awards 2019

Shearman & Sterling won four awards at CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year Awards 2019. The peer-selected accolades were awarded to the firm despite it not having a physical presence in any of the countries.

The firm was recognized for deals it has worked on across Europe, including:

  • Greece: Piraeus Bank on the sale of a €1.95 billion portfolio of non-performing and denounced corporate credit exposures, backed by real-estate collateral, to Bain Capital Credit LP.
  • Hungary: Liberty Global on the sale of its operations in Germany, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic to Vodafone Group plc. The firm provided U.K. corporate and U.S. corporate and securities advice to Liberty Global.
  • Slovenia: The underwriters on the €669.5 million IPO and privatization of Nova Ljubljanska banka d.d., Ljubljana on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. The transaction was the largest European banking IPO in 2018 and the largest-ever Slovenian IPO.
  • Turkey: Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd, Limak İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., SK Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. and Yapi Merkezi İnşaat ve Sanayi A. Ş. on the Malkara - Çanakkale (including the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge) Motorway Project in Turkey.
