Shearman & Sterling was named “MENA M&A Legal Adviser of the Year” for the second year in a row and “Energy, Mining & Utilities M&A Legal Advisor of the Year” at the Mergermarket Awards 2019.

The M&A team received the awards in the Middle East for their work on some of the most complex and high-value transactions in 2018. These include advising:

• Mubadala Petroleum on the acquisition of a 10% stake in the Zohr super-giant gas field in Egypt;
• EFG Hermes on the successful first close of the Egypt Education Fund which aims to build Egypt’s largest specialized K-12 education company; and
• Investcorp on the launch of a joint venture with Aberdeen Standard Investments that will invest in infrastructure projects in Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
