Jeune Afrique ’s 50 Most Influential Business Lawyers

Partners Emmanuel Gaillard and Maude Lebois (both Paris-International Arbitration) are featured in Jeune Afrique’s ranking of the 50 most influential business lawyers in francophone Africa in 2018. Maude has been ranked for the first time. Jeune Afrique is a very widely read French-language pan-African weekly magazine.

Professor Emmanuel Gaillard, Global Head of Disputes, has been advising and representing African States and African companies in their international disputes for over 35 years and has acted in over 30 matters in Africa in 2018. He is extremely active in Algeria and regularly advises Sonatrach. He also represents States, State-owned entities and companies in North and West Africa. Emmanuel is recognized as a “global star” and “powerful figure” in the market according to Chambers Global 2019: Dispute Resolution–Africa-wide.

Active in the field of international arbitration and projects for over 15 years, Maude Lebois has been particularly involved in matters related to Africa. She has defended the interests of African parties (both States and companies) in multiple high-profile cases. Most recently, she advised Sonatrach on its $1.2 billion partnership in a petrochemical project in Turkey. Maude has also been praised for her “impressive work handling Africa-related disputes” in the 2019 edition of Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration – Future Leaders.
