Shearman & Sterling Named Among Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality

Shearman & Sterling has once again earned a perfect score of 100 percent for the 11th consecutive year on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a U.S. national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

“It is imperative for us to continue growing and evolving the policies and practices that affirm and embrace all of our employees in the U.S. and globally,” said Sandra Bang, Chief Diversity and Talent Strategy Officer at Shearman & Sterling. “We are incredibly pleased to have achieved another perfect score related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Building more diverse, collaborative and inclusive teams is essential to providing the perspectives and depth of solutions that we know our clients need to succeed.”

The 2020 CEI rated over 1,000 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Shearman & Sterling’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and its designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
